Shaping our Society with Integrity, Truth, and Character
Shaping Our Society with Integrity, Truth, and Character
It is inevitable that bombs and guns don’t make a revolution unless we are shaping our society with integrity, truth, and character. Rather, they turn a society from bad to worse. The first and most important component in building and revolutionizing our society is not just amending a constitution. The intrinsic cohesion is not just education, foreign policy, investment, or technology. These are not the strongest weapons that are required. Indeed, they are all important to govern society, but then what will be the vehicle that will transport us from chaos and dysfunction—a society hijacked by lies and hypocrisy—to a society based on truth and love?
Why Guns and Bombs Don’t Build a Revolution
Not many years ago, our society was not lamenting getting an appointment for service. However, the opposite is true today. To get a job, one needs to provide a weighty bribe that comes with a high price. Why has our culture, society, and character been perverted into corruption? Why do bureaucrats have to steal poor guys’ money? The most important factor is not so much the massive population, nor illiteracy, nor even the lack of financial resources.
The Role of True Education in Revolutionizing Society
The Late Dr. People’s President APJ Abdul Kalam constantly talked about developing the nation with higher education and advancing technology. Sadly, nobody asked what kind of education? The right education is essential to revolutionizing a degenerated nation and society. The communist regime of the Soviet Union under the governance of Stalin achieved its highest goal in making the nation literate. That, however, doesn’t pave the way for them to be preserved from corruption, brutality, and hostility. The danger arises when education is hijacked by half-truths—Mr. Lie.
Schools and the Decline of Moral Values
Our society, with hundreds of schools, is no different from the Communists, at least in its downgraded spirituality. Schools in villages are no longer modeling the upright future leaders. Free education specified by the government becomes the belly builder for the big goons, the so-called leaders—whom I named ‘Lamkai dei mihem ngailu lou.’ It is not about having schools but teaching the younger generation the truth.
Building a Society Founded on Truth and Integrity
Serving the younger generation with moral and character formation will bring freedom—not a cashless society, but a cash-truth society, and certainly not by means of an unfair education. When a society loves to steal and lies, it violates the very nature of its Creator—the founder of the society. Not only do they violate the very nature of the Lawgiver, but this also results in the immediate backwardness of our society. When the youngsters learn corruption in the early stages of their education, they bring it with them into their administrative services, and the common people have to pay an enormous bribe.
The Responsibility Begins at Home
The responsibility of a well-informed mind, learning not to tell lies, not to covet, and not to bribe, originates first within the family. The diligent seekers of truth will help our society to revolutionize the present chaotic situation. This is not just letting the youngsters go to school and engage with new technologies, but equipping them with higher education of higher standards and moral values. This principle is ancient, dating back to when the Creator God commanded the corrupt society (Israelites) to be a fruitful and blessed nation by immersing themselves in the truth of God’s Word.
The Path Forward: Education Based on Truth
To overcome the struggles of our present society, shaping our society with truth and character is vital. So, we must train every citizen to be engineers in building our homes, schools, and society with ‘The Truth’—the undivided textbook of the creator, the Bible. That’s where the wisdom for governing society originates. Science textbooks don’t teach us ‘THE TRUTH; they give us information. But ‘The Truth’ emanates character formation, not corruption, for the Giver of ‘The Truth’ is ‘Truth.’ As receivers of God’s truth, let us allow Jesus to become, not only our Savior but Lord of our lives. Otherwise, corrupted ideologies and doctrines will enslave our society into destruction.
Conclusion
Bombs and guns may create fear, but they will not create change unless we are shaping our society with the truth and character. True change lies in revolutionizing the heart and mind with values rooted in truth. Let us rebuild our society by investing in an education that promotes truth, integrity, and moral character—building a future where society thrives on the foundation of truth and love, rather than corruption and lies.
